Unmotivated Energy

“I’m not feeling motivated.”

“Not helpful.”

“So, I drank coffee to see if it would help.”

“Did it?”

“No, now I just have a lot of unmotivated energy. So I re-organized all the books by size and color, painted a mural on the playroom ceiling, and created a maze from the backdoor to my room. “

“That would explain the text I got from Susie a bit ago.”

Melody laid her phone down with a smile. This conversation had taken place over text. She could just imagine what the house looked like when Susie got home. There were no telling how complicated the mazed might have been. With Ann, anything was possible.

She picked up her phone one more time. “If you are still full of unmotivated energy, I’d suggestion you go over and paint Mrs. Spencer’s shed. It needs done desperately. She has all the supplies and is bound to be home.”

It was two hours before Melody left work. Driving past the Spencer’s, she glanced at their shed. It was painted white with blue trim. Melody smiled she had expected to see this. She caught her breath in surprised a moment later, as she noticed the neat flower boxes out front. All the weeds were gone and the lawn had been mowed.

Dinner was being put on the table when Ann flew in the door. “You guys,” she declared, “You should see the fort that Danny Spencer and I built. It’s grand. Missy decorated it with flowers. Those kids are super creative, I never realized that.” She bounced over by Melody, “Thanks for suggesting I go over there, I never knew how incredible they are. It is something the way Mrs. Spencer is providing for her family since her husband died. I think I shall go help them out once a week. We had a bang up time today.”

Melody smiled as she sat down. Someone must have had more than a little unmotivated energy, or else just saw a need for the first time.
